The annual WVU Cancer Institute Breast Cancer Survivor Walk is a community event that recognizes cancer survivors and their families while providing an opportunity for education and fellowship.
The 2023 event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Ruby Amphitheater at Hazel Ruby McQuain Park (185 Garrett Street, Morgantown, WV). Registration is at 9 a.m., a group photo will be taken at 9:40 a.m., and the one-mile walk will begin at 10 a.m.
The event will include a Survivor Gift Basket Raffle, Pink Tree Silent Auction donated by a survivor for a survivor, and a cash only pink t-shirt table. T-shirts will be $20. All donations go to the Betty Puskar Fund.
Bonnie’s Bus will be providing screening mammography during the event. To make an appointment please contact 304-293-2382. Bonnie’s Bus accepts private insurance, medicare, and medicaid. No eligible WV resident is ever turned away due to inability to pay. Patients must provide a physicians order for a screening mammogram, identification, and proof of insurance (if applicable).
Tentative agenda:
- 7:30 a.m. – Set up
- 9 a.m. – Registration
- 9:40 a.m. – Announcements and group photo
- 10 a.m. – Walk begins
- 10:30 a.m. – Raffles
- 10:45 - 11:45 a.m. – Event wrap-up
