Adult Outpatient Services (ages 18+)

WVU Healthy Minds offers a wide range of outpatient mental health services for individuals, groups, and families—including therapies, assessments, and medication management.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is an evidence-based individual therapy offered in person or via telemedicine. It helps adults manage anxiety, mood disorders, eating disorders, substance use, and stressors, such as grief or major life changes. Therapists guide clients in identifying unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors while building healthier coping strategies.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Clinic

DBT helps teens and adults with complex psychiatric disorders and high-risk behaviors. It blends behavioral change with acceptance strategies. Programs offered:

  • Comprehensive DBT: Weekly individual therapy + group skills training for 12 months, with phone coaching.
  • Skills Training Only: For clients already working with a non-DBT therapist.

All DBT services begin with a 2–4 session pre-treatment consultation.

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT)

ACT is an intensive, community-based program serving Medicaid-covered individuals in six West Virginia counties. It offers psychiatric care, therapy, case management, medication support, and crisis stabilization for those with repeated hospitalizations due to serious mental illness.

Medication Management

Psychiatric providers work with patients to manage medications as part of their behavioral health treatment plan.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy
