A Multidisciplinary Approach
West Virginia’s premier neuroscience center, the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute (RNI), is anchored by its flagship location on the WVU Health Sciences campus in Morgantown, WV, and serves patients across multiple sites throughout the region. More than 330 physicians and scientists, backed by 2,500 dedicated personnel, provide advanced neurological care, mental health treatment, and education to over 350,000 patients annually.
With the latest technologies, an ecosystem of partners, and an integrated approach, we are making tangible progress in the advancement of brain health. Our breakthroughs in neuroscience are strengthening our efforts to combat public health challenges ranging from addiction to Alzheimer’s. We are proud to break barriers in research and patient care to better serve the people of West Virginia and beyond.
Letter from our Executive Chair
The Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute (RNI) was established in 2018 with a bold initiative for a new comprehensive and multidisciplinary patient care, education, and research institute. In the seven years since its inception, the RNI has grown exponentially, becoming a global leader with over 350,000 annual patient visits from all 50 states and 17 countries and developing breakthrough treatments and research innovations for the most pressing neurological and behavioral conditions.
The RNI is built on a shared culture of collaboration, teamwork, and alignment in vision with the University president, Health System CEO, dean of the School of Medicine, and Department chairs. Our structure integrates seven traditionally siloed academic departments across all inpatient and outpatient services. The RNI care model combines multidisciplinary teams of specialists with advanced technologies and state-of-the-art facilities in one location. Our team is not only committed to world-class patient care, but also to promoting lifelong brain health and wellness strategies.
In addition to attracting our nation’s top talent, the RNI is leveraging a robust ecosystem of academic, industry, and government partners and deploying the latest technologies. We are making tangible progress toward breakthrough treatments for Alzheimer’s disease, addiction, Parkinson’s, and other conditions. The RNI has accomplished this through a rapid cycle innovation program that facilitates translational research and first-in-human safety and efficacy clinical trials.
I am grateful to work alongside our exceptional team of more than 300 faculty and 2,500 dedicated professionals at the RNI with a shared culture of passion, purpose, and partnership.
Together, we are making a profound difference for our patients, advancing neuroscience research, and educating the next generation of clinicians and neuroscientists.
From the heart of Appalachia, the RNI is setting a new standard for neuroscience institutes and has become an internationally recognized hub for patient care and neuroscience discoveries. Ultimately, we are delivering new hope to patients and families in West Virginia, the rest of the country, and across the world.
