WVU Hospitals’ annual awards ceremony honors staff accomplishments

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – WVU Hospitals (WVUH) staff, providers, and leaders were recognized at the organization’s 2025 Annual Awards Ceremony on Nov. 5 at the WVU Erickson Alumni Center in Morgantown

Established to honor those who have gone above and beyond for patients, coworkers, and their employer. WVUH includes J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital and WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s in Morgantown, Fairmont Medical Center, and their affiliated clinics. The event is hosted annually by the Bravo! Reward and Recognition Program 

Individual and team awards spanned categories that included exemplary patient care and service, building a better workplace, lending a helping hand, patient safety, and performance improvement. 

Three special honors were presented, including the Employee Experience Champion Award, given to Simon Wirth, lab assistant and chair of the WVUH Morgantown Employee Experience Board, an employee-led team charged with promoting a sense of community, inclusivity, and the improvement of employees’ overall experience. It is comprised of clinical and non-clinical staff from various shifts, specialties, and backgrounds.  

The Bravo! Inspiration Award, which celebrates an extraordinary individual whose remarkable career contributions and unwavering commitment have been a foundational force and guiding light for the organization, was presented to Kirk Bebout, director of WVUH Information Technology.

Cari Morgan, M.B.A., B.S.N., R.N., N.E.-B.C., director of Nursing at Fairmont Medical Center, received the Presidential Leadership Award, the highest and most distinguished honor bestowed upon any WVUH leader.  

It is reserved for an individual whose contributions actively shape the culture and future of the organization and who transcends daily expectations, defining what true organizational commitment means. Recipients embody, without compromise, the foundational values WVUH cherishes most: caring, compassion, integrity, dedication, and hard work. They serve as a powerful inspiration to their peers and a lasting benchmark for all current and future WVUH leaders.
