Jefferson Medical Center: Ambulatory Expansion & Cancer Care Upgrades

At Jefferson Medical Center, WVU Medicine is expanding the ambulatory campus to bring more services together in one convenient location, enhancing patient experience and providing comprehensive care under one roof.
Total Investment: $60 million

Project Highlights:

  • Phase 1 of a multi-step master facility plan for the JMC campus
  • Three-story medical office building with imaging, lab, and ancillary services, with shelled space for future growth
  • Dedicated Oncology & Infusion Center on the hospital’s third floor, part of the WVU Cancer Institute
  • Modernized infrastructure and enhanced parking/campus access

Timeline: Construction of the new cancer care suite begins summer 2025, projected to open early 2026. The medical office building will break ground in Q2 2026 and open in early 2028.

Looking Ahead

These transformational projects are expected to create 550 jobs in Berkeley and Jefferson counties within five years, with an additional 150 indirect FTEs during construction. With Berkeley County projected to grow by 40% by 2040, WVU Medicine is committed to evolving alongside the community to meet future healthcare needs.
