New video highlights mission of the WVU Cancer Institute

This new video gives an overview on how the WVU Cancer Institute is providing the best cancer care possible. WVU Cancer Institute leaders Richard Goldberg, MD, director; Laura Gibson, PhD, deputy director; Hannah Hazard, MD, director of clinical services and surgeon in chief; and Stephenie Kennedy, EdD, associate director of cancer prevention and control share how the Institute is carrying out its mission: patient care, research, outreach, and education.

    Cancer Institute congratulates newest graduates of WVU’s Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program

    West Virginia University’s Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program is an intense, three-year experience that prepares its graduates by developing their clinical expertise in cancer therapy, guides them in acquiring the knowledge of basic biology of neoplastic diseases and teaches them to solve problems through research in Hematology-Oncology.  Trainees are introduced to Hematology/Oncology through clinical teaching on the wards and in clinics, as well as clinical and basic science lectures and conferences directed by faculty. Fellows also participate in clinical or laboratory research under faculty supervision.. Only a handful of students enter the program each year.

    Vandalia-Con Steampunk Convention to benefit WV Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program and Bonnie's Bus

    On Friday, May 26 from 10 am until 7:30 pm, Vandalia-Con will hold a pink block party, which will include a regional Mountains of Hope West Virginia State Cancer Coalition meeting, a screening of the film “Someone You Love: The HPV Epidemic” with continuing education credit available, and two free classes.  Vandalia-Con proper will begin with a concert on Friday night at 9 pm -Midnight. Concert tickets are $10.00, or free with purchase of a weekend or VIP Pass.
