WVU Medicine chief pharmacy officer tapped for Becker’s inaugural pharmacy advisory board

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Todd Karpinski, Pharm.D., M.S., F.A.S.H.P., F.A.C.H.E., system vice president and chief pharmacy officer for the WVU Health System, has been named to the inaugural Becker's Chief Pharmacy Officer Advisory Board, a national group of pharmacy leaders selected to help guide discussions on the future of health system pharmacy.

The advisory board brings together chief pharmacy officers from leading healthcare organizations nationwide to provide insight on emerging trends, operational challenges, innovation, and best practices in hospital pharmacy. 

Dr. Karpinski oversees pharmacy enterprise services across the System’s 25 acute care hospitals, leading more than 800 pharmacy professionals. During his tenure, he has led systemwide initiatives in specialty pharmacy, telepharmacy, home infusion, pharmacy information technology, and clinical services that have improved medication safety, patient access, and operational efficiency. 

“I am so honored to be included on Becker’s first CPO Advisory Board,” Karpinski said. “The Board offers a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with pharmacy leaders from across the country. Sharing our experience and perspectives not only helps advance our profession but will certainly spark ideas and thoughts that could benefit us here at WVU Medicine.” 

Karpinski recently completed a three-year elected term on the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Board of Directors and has long been recognized for his leadership in advancing pharmacy practice nationally. 

His appointment reflects both his leadership in the profession and WVU Medicine's continued commitment to advancing pharmacy services and improving patient care across the region.
